| August 31 Ron Wildes, Author of Swamp Ponderings-A 1971 graduate of Camden County High School, Ron writes about much of his Southeast Georgia hometown of Saint Mary’s—especially the unusual characters he encountered during his childhood. Rev. Wildes also tells of his family, including his late parents, Julian and Doris Wildes. He uses a storytelling style reminiscent of his grandfather, Mack Wildes, who was renowned throughout that area of Georgia as the surveyor of Charlton County and a blacksmith. After high school, Rev. Wildes received his Bachelor of Science degree in History, Archeology, and Political Science from Shorter College. Then, in 1979, he earned his Master’s of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The Sharpsburg resident enjoys his family, including a son, twin daughters, and his grandchildren. In fact, illustrations in his book were drawn by his children. You can find his book Swamp Ponderings at www.amazon.com. |
