Rosemary Hines

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! as Scott shares Rosemary Hines’ testimony of God leading her away from the New Age faith to a faith in Jesus Christ.

Rosemary was involved in the New Age movement as a teen and young adult. At age thirty, a family tragedy sparked her search for another spiritual path, leading her to a newfound faith in Jesus Christ.

She was a school teacher for twenty years, teaching at a variety of levels including preschool, elementary, and junior high. Most of her teaching career was at middle school level as an English teacher for 7th and 8th graders, where she developed a heart for at-risk students and committed to helping them move toward productive and happy lives.

Rosemary is the author of the Sandy Cove series, contemporary faith-based novels entitled Out of a Dream, Through the Tears, and Into Magnolia. She has been published in a variety of magazines and has served as a women’s Bible study leader and teacher.

She and her husband of thirty-seven years are the proud parents of two grown children and two adorable little granddaughters. Her website is www.rosemaryhines.com and she has an author page on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RosemaryHinesAuthorPage.

Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! with the crazy BRMCWC mystery interviews followed by J. Jackson of the parody band ApologetiX.

Influenced by a steady diet of Mad Magazine, Wacky Packages, novelty records, and comic books, ApologetiX lead singer and lyricist J. Jackson started writing parodies as a kid. He became a born-again Christian in January 1988, and his newfound interest in the Bible had a profound influence on his parodies.

A journalism major in college, J. worked in the public relations field before going full-time with ApologetiX. He started getting together with some other like-minded Christian musicians in 1990, and this loose-knit group eventually played its first concert as ApologetiX on March 27, 1992.

Like many other rock and rollers, J. is surrounded by beautiful women—his wife, Lisa, and four daughters, Janna, Heather, Kelly, and Natalie. They also have a dog (Skippy), three mice (Gracie, Cookie, and Chocolate), and a fish (Diamond). They make their home in Pittsburgh, PA.

Jennie Philliips, Hostess at the Cove &

Dr. Betty Hassler, Author

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! as Scott McCausey shares the life of spirit-filled hostess Jennie Phillips, and Christian Devotions Boot Camp graduate and author Betty Hassler.

Jennie Phillips hails from Monroe, Louisiana and has two children, Christopher Lance and Alicia Michelle. In the early 80s, she sought a serious relationship with the Lord and in 1988 the Holy Spirit filled her at a Frederick K. C. Price crusade in New Orleans, LA.

In January of 2005, Jennie was led to move to Asheville, NC. “The crazy part about this,” she says, “I didn’t know anyone there, have a place to live, or a job to support me.” But God prepared her with these words, “I have gone before you and prepared the way.” She came to a women’s Bible study at the Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove and began volunteering shortly afterward. She now works part-time as a hostess at this special place. Discover more about the Billy Graham Cove at www.thecove.org.

Writer and communicator Dr. Betty Hassler has written two books and co-written nine Bible studies. She designed and edited Bible studies with such noted authors as Henry Blackaby, Joni Eareckson Tada, Lisa Whelchel, Gary and Barbara Rosberg, and James T Draper Jr.

Betty published her first book, Living Between the Ditches: When God Makes No Sense, in 2009 and her second, When Christ Sets You Free, in 2011. She completed undergraduate studies at Baylor University and earned both a master’s degree and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

She is the wife of Dr. Sim Hassler, a minister and life coach, mother of two grown sons, grandmother of two, and an active church member in Nashville, TN. She and her husband enjoy ministering to international students.
