It’s My Time to Grieve: A Journey into Grief and Back
In Revelation 12:11, we read these words “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony…”
It’s My Time to Grieve is a living example of this precious verse. The author pours out her intimate moments with God as she journeys to recover, or at least move on, after the death of her son, Matthew. This is how we overcome, by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. From her foundation of faith (blood of the Lamb) and her intimate thoughts, poems and essays (word of her testimony), Phoebe Leggett offers hope to all who have lost a loved one.
The main focus of this book is processing grief. The author talks about the stages of grief, gives advice on facing holidays, and offers comforting Scripture.
Scattered throughout the chapters are contributions from other authors and friends who have lost loved ones. These selections from Ann Tatlock, Carolyn Knefely, Cathy Pendola, Cindy Sproles, Dana Leggett, Belle Woods, Brian Foley, and others add poignant poems, essays, and personal insights on dealing with grief.
It’s My Time to Grieve includes chapters devoted to the loss of parents, spouses, siblings and even pets. If you’ve suffered from the loss of a precious person in your life, you will find much comfort in this book.
** Special Note: God does work in a mysterious way. Recently, a friend lost her grandson in a tragic shooting. She came to me and asked if I had any books about grieving. She wanted something to offer hope to the parents of the child. I was happy to pass this book on to my friend.
Disclaimer: The review copy of this book was provided by the author at no cost and forwarded to a friend who had recently lost a grandchild.
