Faith that “He Will” – Christine M. Miller-Ramey

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. I Timothy 7:17 NIVSB

“Zero cents and zero dollars.” That was the balance in my checking account just a few days ago. Believe me, I was shocked — thought there was enough to last me until my next pay day. I was wrong. Fear crept through me. Would I manage another day without money?

Teary eyed, I wondered if God was good for His promises. I’d heard how others were provided for, but would God seek after my needs?

I will provide, He whispered. Trust. I wasn’t sure how my needs would be met, but I had to have faith they would be.

I went to my knees in prayer, lifting my heart before Christ and claiming the promises He’d made in scripture. God was quick to teach His promises were true. I didn’t have much, but school was one of the things I wanted. I knew I couldn’t afford it and with an empty checking account, it became clear I couldn’t pursue it.

Several months prior I’d applied for a student grant and was denied. My mother offered to pay for a class, so I signed up. I took the class and made the grade I desperately needed to qualify for the grant.

Months passed while I waited for approval. My days seemed numbered as to what I could do and my checking account grew weary. The day the letter came to say I’d qualified, I was thrilled. I checked my grades online and verified the grant had gone through. God had heard my cries and answered.

I registered for more classes and soon the money came. I grew satisfied in knowing God met a bigger need in my life. I was registered for the next term without worry and my classes were paid.

Rich doesn’t describe my bank account but “satisfied” is exactly the way it should be. My needs were met in ways I couldn’t begin to describe. God does provide. Not always in the way we think, but in the way He feels it needs to be provided.

When you struggle with financial provision, stand firm in prayer. Trust your needs to the Great Provider.

Simple Blessings – Christine Ramey
avatar

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. James 4:2-3 NLT

Humble is the word I use to describe myself when I’m poor and there’s no money to provide the simple things I need. At times, I feel as though my pride as been stabbed. The experience, regardless of the difficulty, teaches me to trust Jesus more. It helps me to understand just how much He will provide my every need.

The size or amount doesn’t matter. What matters is that I trust in Him to provide. God tells me to ask Him for help. When I ask, I know in my heart I’ll see a miracle. I’ll even see a simple blessing bestowed upon me. All of this, just because I believed.

There have been countless times I have been humbled…lying flat on my back without a dollar to my name. But somehow and by some miracle, Jesus was there in the midst waiting for me to simply ask, even when it was hard or when my pride tried to stand in the way.

In the moment of humility…of coming to Him in faith…He takes me tightly in His grasp and cares for me. He gives in abundance, not in over-abundance so my needs and not always my wants, are met. God knows what is best for me and He never lets me down.

When I lay my requests before God, He provides exactly what I’ve needed. Learn to walk in faith and on the promises God has given. Come before Him with humility and present your needs. He is good to His word and He will provide your needs.

Father, please help me ask for the things I need. Help me to know You love me. Let me learn to trust in You. I love you, Father. Amen

Spiritual Milk is Good! – Christine Ramey
avatar

Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like new born babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. 1 Peter 2:1-3

Our body wants to be fed just like that of a newborn. You may have heard the milk commercial, “Milk does the body good!” Just like a baby needs milk to help them grow, so does the Christian.

When I became a Christian, my soul seemed to hunger for the word of God. I wanted to memorize and read His word. It helped me grow stronger in Him. I was in high school when I was saved and it was my Sunday school teachers who taught me the importance of memorizing scripture. And, there’s nothing better than friendly competition to aid in the venture.

We were given the opportunity to win a trip if we learned all of the scriptures our teachers gave us. I worked hard reading and rereading, quoting all the text over and over. To my surprise, I won the trip. The memories I have kept from this trip still remain warm in my heart.

It wasn’t until I was an adult that I realized the value of that experience. Our church participated in visitation nights where we were to share the message of God’s love and show it through the scripture. That’s when the value of memorizing scriptures became real to me. It taught me to continually memorize and read God’s word daily.

I learned how the spiritual milk helped me to grow closer to God Himself. Yes, I learned the scriptures. I read the Bible daily and by doing this, it has fed  my soul and prepared me for the battles I face along the way.

When Christ tells us to put on His armor, it’s for a good cause. I challenge you to learn a passage a day. Post it on your mirror, in your car, on your refrigerator. Repeat it, study it, commit it to memory. Then suit up and when you’re faced with trials, know that God has sent a prepared warrior into battle. He will remind you of the words that will bring you through.

Father, help me continue to memorize the scriptures. Teach me to hide these scriptures in my heart. I love you, Father. Amen.

Do you hear me?
Can’t you feel My presence?
Don’t you know who I am?

Don’t you know I love you?
Can you see the paths I’ve chosen for you?
Haven’t you heard I gave my son for you?

I’m your Father and I love you.
I see your life is going downhill.
Save yourself and give your life a chance.

I will never forsake you.
I will never leave you.
My love for you will always be here.

Life is worth living, never give up!
Do what I meant for you to do.
I will give you the desire to complete them.

It’s your choice,
How you will live your life.
Life will always be filled with trials.
You will always face circumstances.

Trials will come and go.
It’s Me you need to trust.
I’m your Father!

I will always love you.
Don’t ever forget this!
Hold my hand and follow me.

You’re my daughter,
And I’m your Father.
My love will sustain you.
I’ll comfort you in your pain.

In My arms I’ll keep you safe.
With My words,
You’ll be comforted.
My shoulder will hold your tears.

My ears, will listen to your every need.
My heart will bring you love.
My son will give you life.

I’m your Father,
And you’re my daughter.
Never forget that I love you.

Walking on Faith – Christine Ramey
avatar

I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you – When calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me. Proverbs 1:26-28 NIV

I am overwhelmed with life. Lately my life has felt like a whirlwind of storms–health issues, divorce, loss of a child, and the problems continue to pour in. It seems no matter where I turn, trouble stares me in the face.

Knowledge is power and the power is in God’s word. His hands are with me every day. I am learning that if I cannot trust in God and cannot accept Him, then I have a hard time finding His hands in the midst of my life.

Last year I had open-heart surgery and my faith was truly tested—not knowing if I would come out alive. Just before surgery I prayed: Dear Lord, let me experience your peace. Your hand is needed in my life. Teach me to trust that you are in my surgeon’s hand. I know you love me and will guide me through this surgery. Give me the strength and courage to do what I need to get done. I love you, Lord. Amen.

I have never felt God’s peace as I did that day. He continually teaches me not to mock His name or reject Him. As they placed the oxygen mask on my face, I felt God’s hand upon my life. He gave me the strength and courage to go through the surgery.

It is only in our distress that we tend to call out to God. Feeling alone? In troubled times, when loneliness sets in, reach out to God. He will take hold and walk you through.

He Cares for You – Christine M. Ramey

…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 NKJ

It was almost a year ago I suffered with excessive health issues. My heart was leaking and the doctors said there was no hope. Scared and anxious about the future, I sought a second, then third opinion—searching to find an answer that made sense. I began to pray, to ask God what I should do, when I found this verse. It spoke to me. …casting all my cares upon Him? I imagined that must be a big job for God. Bearing everyone’s burdens must be a tangible task.

I found myself praying, asking God for help. I needed to find some reassurance that someone was on my side, so I followed the verse. I cast my cares on Him. The moment I gave God all of my cares, I was surprised to see His hand working in my life. It wasn’t long before He led me to the right doctor…one who was willing to give me the surgery I needed. God did that for me.

It was a miracle, finding someone who could give me a portion of my life back. I was surprised that by honestly giving God all of my burdens and my cares, I could find peace. As I lay awaiting my surgery, memories of His warmth and comfort gave me a sense of peace. Things were right with God. He’d taught me the value of giving all of my cares to Him.

Is there something that weighs heavy on your heart? Cast your cares like nets to the water. Let Christ carry the burden. After all, He didn’t die for nothing.

Lord, Thank You for teaching me to trust in You. It is because I trusted You that I was able to find true peace. It has enabled me to give all of my cares to You. I love You Lord, Amen.

Thrifty – Christine M. Ramey

“My God will meet all your needs according to the glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 NIV

You know the money is tight when you begin to scrape together every last nickel and dime to purchase a gallon of milk. Yet, isn’t that God allowing you the survival needs of life?

Just yesterday, as we sat at Walgreens, I recall hoping to have every dime to purchase that gallon of milk. We had caught it on sale and felt really blessed to be able to buy it. Today’s economy does not help us in times of need. It is hard to survive while saving every cent just to make it.

Many of us experience this every day while shopping and gathering things for the home. I wonder how many of us have stopped to thank God for what we have. Yes, we may be scraping every last cent to meet our needs but many are going hungry. Many do not have the greater things that we do. So, why are we complaining? Have we not realized that we would not have any of those things without Christ?

Funny, isn’t it? The concept is hard to believe at times but it’s true; we have so much to be thankful for. Even when we are being “thrifty,” it is then that we are blessed. I know it seems impossible at times to believe that God provides all our needs.

Nevertheless, I am a testament to that. I know He supplies all of my needs. I can tell about countless times when money was tight and how He came through.
If you have Christ in your heart and believe in Him, He will help you through any circumstance, even finances. Trust and believe!

Prayer: Father, I want to thank you for supplying my needs. Help me to understand you are in control of my life. I am thankful for the things you have helped me through. Help me to believe and to trust you completely. I love you, Father. Amen.
