Frances L. Lewis became inspired to write when her military husband received orders to Hawaii. She began writing poetry and won a poetry contest with Summer Parfait. A guest writer for two newspapers in Virginia and Tennessee, she also wrote a weekly column in Base News, a now-defunct military paper for five years. Since 2008, she has written for the newsletter Encourager, a paper for her church’s women. Since October, Hawaii, Holidays, and Humor, her weekly blog, has aided her quest to become more technologically savvy. When she is not teaching GED classes at Southwestern Illinois College or writing, she and her husband enjoy visiting their three daughters and their families.
