Praise at Christmas

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.  Luke 2:8 NIV

praise at ChristmasShepherds heard angels singing, “Glory to God in the highest, peace on earth, goodwill to men.”

These were ordinary men in charge of the flocks on the hills, visited by heavenly hosts who brought them this great news. Can we relate to the joy they felt? Can we hear the angels bringing us the good news of our Messiah’s birth?

The shepherds then hurried to Bethlehem to find the baby Jesus. Their hearts filled with joy as they knelt to worship this baby. Did they recognize Him as their Messiah, their Savior?

As we prepare for Christmas in our homes and places of worship, are our hearts full of joy and anticipation? Do we see the face of our Good Shepherd as we set up nativities, mail out Christmas cards and notes, and sing hymns of holiday praise?

The shepherds returned to their flock, giving thanks and praise to the Father. We should praise and thank the Father for what we have seen and heard.

What are some ways you can praise God during this Christmas season?
