I remember when my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. We looked to the best medical practices available. But even the top physician did not offer much hope for her recovery. The odds were stacked against her. My church family also looked to God. We knew He was the only one who could let her win her battle. We prayed, and God answered our prayer for healing.
We are not exempt from trouble. Daily, we encounter various battles. They might not be life-changing, but we are constantly tested in some form. Sometimes, the situation is not personal, but it concerns us because we live in community. And we can trust God.
David once took on a challenge. The trial was not personal, but the Philistines had threatened Israel, the nation to which David belonged. As a young boy, David knew he could defeat the giant Goliath. But he did not face the giant in his own strength. With only five stones and no military armor, David said, “I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts.” And, “This very day the LORD will deliver you into my hand.”
Our battles might not be against people. Sometimes we fight spiritual battles against principalities and powers. At other times, the battles may be social injustices, hatred, and sickness.
Regardless of what battle you face, pray to God for deliverance. With Him as your commander and chief, you can overcome the Enemy.
