I am listening to a book about interruptions in our lives and how God can build something inside us because of those interruptions. I am coming up on three years of my diagnosis of MS. I have come to the reality that even in the three years of this diagnosis, it will be a constant disruption.
Unless God chooses to heal me completely, my healing won’t be fully complete until heaven. And I have come to the point where I am okay with that. Because as big as that interruption was three years ago, I know that because of MS, God has shown me more grace, peace, and assurance than I ever experienced before my diagnosis.
We can rejoice when encountering problems because they help us develop endurance, which leads to strong character and hope.
It isn’t my strength that God is building. Even though I was able to run three miles nonstop, it was that little-at-a-time effort that was building up this summer to that three-mile mark again. And some days it can be hard even to get one mile in. That is my physical body, not my strength that is being built within me.
That strength says, “Go ahead, Lord. I know You are creating in me more of a desire to trust You. You know this road isn’t fun, but You are producing your very own Strength in me.”
Different seasons always remind us to trust that power within us. The constant reminder of our weaknesses causes us to look to a greater power than ourselves. Believe that about any weakness you have.
