More Than Conquerors

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  Romans 8:31 NIV

My tenure as a teacher had finished, my final paycheck would be at the end of the month, and my insurance would end. I panicked. I am diabetic and worried about my insulin. I didn’t have money to pay any bills because I had not planned to retire until May of the following year. I had petitioned the Texas Retirement System for my retirement to begin on June 1. I did not feel like a conqueror or that God was with me.

We know deep down that God is with us and that we are more than conquerors, but sometimes we act like the opposite because we don’t trust God. We are so used to doing things ourselves to care for number one that we have difficulty letting anyone else care for us. We have been conditioned to believe that we don’t need anyone to do anything for us if we are strong. That, to us, is freedom and independence.

The Bible says that when Jesus sets us free, we are free indeed. We are free from anything holding us back from living a triumphant life. Jesus said He would not leave us orphans and then sent another helper: the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit testifies that we are God’s children and can now call Him Abba Father. The Father sent the Son, who said He, as the good shepherd, would care for the sheep. And the Son sent the Holy Spirit to remind us that He and the Father dwell in us.

Daily, we should let go and let God. We should offer our bodies, wills, emotions, fears, doubts, and worries as living sacrifices to God and leave them in the Father’s capable hands.

Let go of those things that keep you from being free indeed and living a victorious life. Be more than a conqueror.
