I wish I had gone to the prom (or game or movie) with a different date. I wish I had made a different choice.
I have said such things a few times. If we only knew then what we know now. Hindsight is great because it’s 20/20. We see more clearly. Based on what we know or feel in the present, we would have made a better choice back then.
As we age, we weigh our options, giving them more careful consideration. Which is better, less risky, and more promising? Taking pen to paper, we might list the pros and cons of a decision. Positive outcomes may give us the green light to move forward, while negative possibilities might lead to unpleasant consequences.
We make better choices to eat healthy food, surround ourselves with better friends, or opt for uplifting movies, books, music, and entertainment. Over time and with wisdom, we carefully choose jobs with a promising future or a potential partner in hopes of a lifelong, happy marriage. Others might accuse us of being too picky. However, it often means we’re holding out for the best choice.
In our spiritual journey, we make choices about whether to grow in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, commit our lives to Jesus, confess our sins, and accept Him as our Savior. I made the choice to do these things, and it’s the most important choice I’ve ever made.
Be choosy when making life’s most crucial decision.
