I take a Travel Channel quiz daily. The quiz asks questions about different destinations around the world, such as what has happened there or what special site would make the visit fun or a significant learning experience.
The visit could be to a high mountain, in and around a coral atoll, near ancient ruins, or to a mine for gold. The viewers are supposed to read about several possible trips and discover the answer to a difficult question in the reading.
When the viewer picks an answer from a multiple-choice question, they are given the correct answer. Sometimes, I’m too lazy to read the whole article, which often leads to the wrong answer. At other times, I think I already know the answer, but don’t. The questions are difficult, but I enjoy the quiz anyway.
Similarly, we can have general knowledge of the Bible but still not grasp many specifics, like Old Testament people and their significance to God’s plan. Take some kings from Judah in the south and Israel in the north. When we read First and Second Kings and First and Second Chronicles, we notice the authors say that the kings were either obedient or disobedient to the Lord. Then they describe why.
So, the question might be as follows: As you were reading about the history of the kings of Judah and Israel, did Ahaz
1. Make a golden calf idol as his forefathers did in the desert?
2. Make sacrifices of all the virgins from Gad?
3. Make images of Baal out of metal?
4. Order all people to worship only the Lord God?
Plenty of ways exist to learn about God and His people’s history. The lessons are invaluable, and we can more fully understand God’s patience, perseverance, and love for His people as He endures our sins and promises salvation through the resurrected Messiah.
Take a journey through the Bible and answer some important questions.
