Learning to Trust the Lord

Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success.  Proverbs 3:5-6 NCV

I went on to Vo-tech and pursued my dreams by working in television. When I got my first job, someone shared this verse: Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success.

I did an internship and worked in production for a cable company. I worked part-time a few days a week for a community college, doing odd television-related jobs. Later, the cable company I interned for was bought out. Many people quit, but I was hired part-time. I also got another part-time employment to supplement my income.

But all wasn’t well. I worked at a fast-food restaurant but was told I was not quick enough, so I lost that job. I interviewed for a job selling encyclopedias, but the interviewer said I wasn’t qualified because I had not attended college. I walked out of that interview, but the person who interviewed me apologized as I did. I also worked for a grocery store but lost that job as well. Yet on the same day, I was offered a full-time job at a cable company.

Being a young Christian in my early twenties taught me to trust the Lord. I didn’t understand how God would work throughout my life. But the Lord showed me that I could rely on Him. I had to learn how to trust the Lord.

Trust God to meet your needs, regardless of what they are.
