Something New

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.  Isaiah 43:19 NIV

Early one Saturday morning, I saw them when I went out for a jog. A few had fallen from the tree above me and lay on the road. I picked one up, brought it home, and placed it on our kitchen counter. Those flowers pointed to a new season. It was as if nature was letting us know that winter was passing and summer was coming. Indeed, it was time to pack away jackets and jerseys and look forward to warmer weather.

Those first Jacaranda flowers were significant. God let me know He was about to do something new in my life. The prophet of old spoke of God doing a new thing, making a way where there had been no way before.

What a wonderful truth that God is doing new things in the lives of His children. Our part is to be ready and to look expectantly for it. He may be about to present us with a new opportunity. If so, we must be ready to say yes, accept the challenge, and move out of our comfort zones.

Let’s allow God to fill us today with hope and joy. Let’s look forward to the new things He has in store for us, shaking off any despondency or despair which may have crept into our lives.

Wait patiently, and be ready to do whatever God calls you to do.
