“Courage is the catalyst.”
I heard those words as I sat surrounded by seven hundred women at a conference. I listened to the word catalyst that morning and then again later. Google says a catalyst is a person or thing that causes change or action. It accelerates growth.
Looking around that room, I thought about all those women and how one woman walking away could become a catalyst and make some significant change. What if one woman walked back into her home and began to see through the eyes of the Father? What if one woman suddenly started folding laundry and began to pray, “Lord, help me to love my kids as you do.” One woman could walk out her door, see a mom, and ask how she could pray for her. What if, when our feet hit the floor, we started our coffee and opened our Bible to spend time with the Lord? What kind of change would occur? What would that look like?
That conference was the first time I had been around so many people, and it wasn’t a huge space. I have learned that in my time on this MS journey, it isn’t comfortable to do things like that. But I force myself to do those things to get out of my comfort zone. There were moments during that weekend when I felt those effects set in. Triggers distracted me, but I knew that was where I should be.
For me, it is the recognition that, as uncomfortable as those situations are, I can know that what I am feeling and experiencing is limited only to what God allows. My security lies in knowing who controls everything and who continues to lead and direct me. I aim to see the Lord above all else and point others to Him.
Think of ways you can claim God’s promises and face your insecurities.
