My mom committed suicide when I was fourteen years old, and my dad remarried. Fifteen years later, my dad divorced my stepmom and left town. I thought I would never see him again. He later remarried my stepmom, but passed away in 2017. As of this writing, my stepmother was told she would not live long.
Recently, I thought about how I don’t have a mom or dad anymore. I feel alone, like an orphan. Parents can be a source of help when going through difficult times. I have been through many hard challenges, some of which I felt I faced alone.
I once had an issue with a landlord and ended up moving. During that time, my dad and stepmom sent me a postcard with an encouraging note. My dad also sent me a check to help with my moving expenses. He was there for me, but now I am all alone.
Although I may feel alone, I remember I am not. I am not alone when I go through the trials and difficulties of this life. Jesus takes me in. And He can do more for me than my earthly father could ever do.
We can be at peace during difficulties because the Lord will take us in. Make sure you know Jesus as your Savior and Lord.
