Worry More, Pray Less

Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.  Psalm 55:22 NIV

As Christians, we know we should pray about everything. God cares about all aspects of our daily lives. Yet certain things we pray about are difficult to leave at the foot of the cross and walk away.

Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall. This psalm is one of many verses that tell us to cast our cares on the Lord. God tells us throughout the Bible that He will sustain us. Maybe life is not what we thought it would look like, but here we are, sustained.

I love Lock-n-Lock food storage containers. They come in all kinds of pretty colors. When I put the lid on top, each side locks with a satisfying click. If I tip it upside down, nothing spills out.

I want to put my prayers and worries in a Lock-n-Lock. I know when I send a prayer to God, it is safely locked away. I’m the one who unlocks it with my worry. I take it back out, worry over it, reword the prayer, try again, and lock it back in for the hundredth time. God actually collects every one of our prayers in a bowl. Not one will ever be lost.

So, pray more and worry less. I know it is a daily struggle in our crazy world. We serve a heavenly Father who tells us to cast every care on Him, and He will sustain us. So, pray more, and then pray again and again. Keep locking that prayer away and leaving it for God. Don’t unlock the lid.
