Jenny peered out at the clear blue ocean bank. “Hello, my calming refuge.”
She dove into the rushing waves. The salty water stung her mouth.
“Even after the worst storms, you always retain your salty soul.”
Sunlight reflected off the water’s mirror-like surface, glistening into Jenny’s eyes.
“There you go, bouncing light back into my life.”
Jenny floated on top of the waves, drifting in their salty melody. Today was a rotten day that she wished would go away.
“If only I could be like you, my salty sunlight. I wouldn’t let the raging storms change my core.”
As Christians, how can we remain like Jenny’s salty sunlight with the raging storms surrounding us? Like the salty water’s sting, we need to keep the pungency of Christ. But like the sunlight’s reflection off the wave’s surface, we can reflect Christ. We should be salty sunlight in this world.
Imagine the ocean without salt and sunlight. Salt purifies and clarifies the water, while sunlight reaches deep down to bring life and visibility. The sea would be a grand place of filth and lose its place as a refuge if it lost its salty soul and sunlight.
The salty sunlight that makes the ocean so important to Jenny is what we need to bring to the world. Salt and sunlight are crucial in changing the ocean’s identity. Imagine how much the world would change if we provided the salt and sunlight Christ wants us to. The world would go through a purification process and see Christ reflected in us. Intense clarity would come if only we shared our salty sunlight.
So, go out there and take God’s salt and light to the world.
