Courage through Pain

I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have so that no one will take your crown.  Revelation 3:11 NIV

Photo courtesy of pixabay. It was an hour of dark storms and difficult trials. The intensity of the battle was beyond what I was usually accustomed to, and the feeling of shrinking back continued to rage like a scorning adversary.

Yet through one of the darkest seasons of my life, I experienced the most productive and fruitful seasons. I discovered the assurance of my salvation, the power of a mighty God who upholds those on whom His favor rests, and the glory of the Lord when He fulfills His good promises in His perfect timing.

Though painful with deep sorrow and many tears, this season has also been one of my life’s most fruitful, spirit-filled, and joyful moments. I learned the depth of love God has for me through Jesus. I also learned the importance of His delays, which are not denials but periods that make the enjoyment of the inevitability of His yes responses sweeter.

Jesus knew the church would suffer much for His name’s sake, so much so that He instructed the apostles that the world would hate them because of Him. Jesus’ words were not spoken merely for the apostles’ sake or believers in the early church. His words were a personalized message to pilgrims throughout the ages, called by the name of Jesus Christ.

We don’t have to fear or worry about what the world may bring. We have a Savior who assured us that we should have good cheer. Jesus has overcome the world. He had cheerful courage through the most painful of agonies and would have us adorn ourselves with that same joyous strength.

When the Lord is working in your life, trust Him and be of good cheer. Seek His Word, and delight in Him.
