A Devotion May Be Someone's Only Bible

Let’s Repeat

And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for the saints.  Ephesians 6:18 NIV

How many of us have stopped to check our hair in the mirror a second or third time before we leave the house? New mothers often check to see if their babies are still breathing. I wonder what our Christian walk would look like if we applied a little OCD to it.

Paul tells us to pray on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. But how does that look? It means exactly what it says. The keyword being “all.” Prayer is not just for Sundays, Christmas, Easter, or when life gives us no other option. Praise music is not just for use inside the church walls. The Bible can be opened on days other than Sunday.

Life is busy. Numerous other distractions and choices are available nowadays. Could it be time for us to put a few different choices on repeat? If you don’t have a church home, find one. Open your Bible, read your favorite verse, and repeat. Turn up the volume on your favorite praise song, praise, and repeat. Most importantly, pray on all occasions and with all kinds of prayers and requests, and repeat.

A little OCD in our Christian walk can be a good thing.
