Rains of God’s Promises

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.  2 Peter 3:9 KJV

As he was about to give up, a small rain cloud appeared in the distance and brought just enough rain to revive his crops, reminding him of God's promise to provide for his needs, even in impossible situations.

Peter admonishes his readers about God’s faithfulness in contrast with the inability of humans to live up to their promises. As humans, we often disappoint friends and loved ones, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

Notwithstanding, nothing overwhelms the greatness of God, hence His ability to fulfill His promise of salvation to everyone. The promise of salvation began after humanity fell into sin. The Old Testament describes God’s careful, long-suffering to gradually bring people from the darkness of sin to His marvelous light through Christ Jesus and our repentance.

The promise of salvation seemed a tall order due to our fallen nature. Our ever-present instinct and desire for sin inevitably impedes the fulfillment of a worldwide change of mind and heart (repentance). But the truth is that our foibles and frailties cannot hinder and impede God’s promises.

Regardless of how Herculean and litany the promises of God are in our lives, God will not slack on His Promises. He will come through as He did concerning salvation. Like the dire situation of the farmer, the hitches and struggles of life can serve as a deterrent against faith in God. Nevertheless, we never have to give in to the storms of life.

Keep hoping against hope and have faith in God that soon the rains of God’s promises concerning you will fall. You will overcome your struggles and live through the manifestation of God’s promises to you.
