The Shepherd’s Voice

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.  Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV

After I studied the map, I confidently headed out. But I didn’t see any landmarks to show I was getting close. Undeterred, I continued, even when the sidewalk ended and I was on the side of a highway. Finally, I admitted I was heading in the wrong direction and returned to the hotel and caught the shuttle.

It’s easy to be led astray. If we aren’t careful, we can be absolutely certain but absolutely wrong. Headstrong and foolish, we plod along, ignoring the warning signs. However, we have Jesus, the Good Shepherd, looking out for us. He calls us by name and leads us in the right direction. He’s designed us to recognize His voice and follow Him. Therefore, we can set aside distractions and listen to His voice, obeying Him. He promises to lead us.

Feeling lost? Worried you’re on the wrong path? Look to the Good Shepherd. Seek Him with all your heart. He will direct your paths.
