The Green Chair

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen!  Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV

I was already a Christian, led to the Lord by a wonderful woman who prayed, “Lord, use me.” Little did she know that He was sending Susan Paulus her direction. We studied together; she led, and I followed. She prayed, since I had not yet learned to vocalize my prayers. I always knew that she had a part of Jesus that I did not yet have.

I remember well the day I wandered around my house—talking to Jesus, singing songs to Him, knowing if I sat in the green chair, somehow, He would burst into my world in ways I could not yet understand. Memory tells me I spent a lot of time avoiding the green chair, walking past it, walking around it, not listening to the Holy Spirit.

I was frightened of God’s strength and what power He might have over me and my life. Wasn’t being saved enough? In time, through tears, I sat in the green chair. And He met me there. I have never before or since felt such love, such forgiveness. I was so clean and happy—though I sobbed.

Do you have a green chair? No matter how much of Jesus you have known, or for how long, He always has more for you. Always. Be willing to accept with joy what He has. His power is at work within you. Forever.
