The Future Retirement, 401-J

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you?  John 14:1-2 NIV

Additionally, employees often have access to a 401(k)-retirement account, which allows them to contribute a portion of their paycheck to an individual savings account.

While such benefits can help those who can’t save for the future, the cost of insurance premiums can be burdensome for some individuals, thereby reducing their net income. It is essential to consider monthly expenses, including bills, fuel, groceries, and charitable contributions. When we consider all these expenses, the total financial obligation can be substantial.

Jesus reassures us when He tells us not to let our hearts be troubled (John 14:1-2). Achieving a stable living environment—owning a home, maintaining a family, and securing good insurance—often requires significant sacrifice and frequently necessitates the combined efforts of two individuals to manage expenses.

Downsizing into a smaller house or opting to live in an RV or tent can be a viable solution for some. Others may need to forgo insurance due to prohibitive premiums. Life inevitably comes with challenges and concerns. Nevertheless, the Bible advises against worry. On another occasion, Jesus reminds us that the birds of the air do not sow, reap, or store away in barns, yet their heavenly Father provides for them. This highlights the importance of faith in believing that God will provide for us.

We must consider whether we prioritize storing our treasures in heaven or investing our money, time, and effort primarily in retirement savings. Upon death, what will hold greater value: a worldly investment left behind or a heavenly investment? Money can become a pitfall for many individuals. However, if utilized for the glory of God and His kingdom, it can result in blessings rather than leading to a life motivated by greed.

God is our corporate establishment. Christians are God’s entrepreneurs, working for His kingdom to win souls to Christ. In return, He gives us mansions and a beautiful living arrangement, where Christ will be our Boss with the angels singing hymns forevermore.

Make sure you are investing for the future retirement, 401-J(esus). It’s never too late to live in mansions without any cost. They are a gift. Be a great worker for the kingdom.
