On the day of his math exam, he slept in. When he arrived at school, the class had already started. But he was good at math and quickly accomplished the tasks given to each student on paper. Sadly, he had no time to finish the problem on the blackboard. He asked the teacher if he could tackle the task at home, and the teacher said yes.
This task seemed like a real teaser. The young man puzzled over it for days, but in the end, he cracked it. He placed the solution of the equation on his math teacher’s desk. The teacher gave him a thunderstruck look. It turned out that the equation on the blackboard had been an example of an impossible puzzle. No one had calculated the sum thus far.
Since the young man had been late to school, he had not heard the restricting words his instructor had uttered to the rest of the class about the equation, describing it as an unsolvable task. The latecomer thought the equation was part of the exam, believed he could tackle it, and did.
His classmates, upon hearing the teacher’s words, did not even bother to give it a try. This information automatically blocked all their efforts. Someone else might have discovered the solutions after working on it for some time if the instructor had not told them about the impossibility of the mission.
Sometimes, when the Lord puts His dreams into our hearts, we share them with people who do not have faith in those dreams coming to pass, so they limit us with their words. Their words may cut deep, especially if coming from ones we look up to and respect. Their words may actually crush our dreams. Then, we too have to cry out, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief” (Mark 9:23-24)!
In Christ, you can do so much more than you can imagine. Do not allow other people’s limitations to crush your aspirations.
