Take a Walk

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.  Matthew 6:34 KJV

When life presents its overwhelming challenges, I seem to crawl into my shell of seclusion. I have, however, found that hiding is not my best friend. We all face day-to-day problems that rob our energy when we try to fix our eyes on our own problems. One way I deal with these challenges is to take a walk—a brisk one—with my faithful dog Champ.

Champ is a fluffy Golden Retriever that never has a bad day. The brisk walk gives me time to clear my head and relieve my stress, leading me to think positive rather than negative thoughts.

Seeking the beauty in God’s creation brings joy back into my heart. Seeing the blooming flowers and radiant trees and hearing the pretty birds singing along the way comforts my soul. A brisk walk transfers my thoughts to a better place and presents a healthier mindset overall. Sometimes, after the first block or two, I’m humming praise songs from church, and my spirit feels lifted.

My companion Champ, however, doesn’t notice the beauty found in nature, nor does he worry about what tomorrow may bring, but he sure loves a good walk (Matthew 6:34). As for us humans, however, we tend to worry about uncontrollable issues and fail to seek God’s help through prayer time alone with Him.

Refresh your mind. Rejuvenate your physical body through a walk with our Creator. Enjoy His marvelous, amazing nature.
